While in school, Melinda discovered a love of printmaking, and shortly after graduating returned to Baylor for an additional two years of post-graduate work in Intaglio, Lithography, and Silkscreen. During this time, her her Silkscreen 0axaca was recognized and chosen for the cover of Baylor’s prestigious Arts and Literary magazine The Phoenix.
Through the years Melinda has worked with several media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pen and ink. She has also worked in other creative fields such as Theater Set Design for theater production companies, schools, and churches. Among her many accolades was the nomination for a Column Award for Best Set Design for the musical School House Rocks.
Melinda now focuses on her love of ink and paper, combining traditional pen and ink with the beauty of watercolor and ink washes. Much of her current work is a whimsical reflection of the beauty she sees in the everyday, while other pieces reflect her love of storytelling in hopes the viewer finds their own story reflected in the ink and wash.
Melinda and her husband of 34 years chose to raise their four children in beautiful McKinney, where she is an active member of the Art Club of McKinney and the Arts and Music Guild of McKinney. Most recently she participated in the Art Meets Poetry show, the Art Club of McKinney Members show (winning 2nd Place in mixed media), the Birds and Bees, Flowers and Trees show at the Martin Place, the Unique by Nature show, and the No Limits show at the Kettle Art Gallery in Deep Ellum.
