Lori Thornton
Painter, Photographer
Lori experiments with acrylic paint, paste, and flowers to create mixed media works with lush textures and intricate designs. Over the last 5 years, Lori has been exploring photography as a way to connect, encourage, support, and "brighten up" herself and others. She began experimenting with painting as a healing practice. Painting is, for Lori, a meditative practice, a way to help her deal with stress. Her art began to expand and become more energetic when she incorporated dried flowers into her paintings. Often she turns to pointillism techniques as a mode of abstraction.
Lori is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner in a pediatric orthopedic practice. There, her healing art involves listening to her young patients and their families, and helping them navigate disease processes and treatment plans. Lori has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Memphis and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University.
